YB Crazy Books Basics

  • YB Crazy Books are the end result of trying not to be crazy after a very rough year.
  • They are tiny books.
  • The smallest like the one above is about 1.5" x 1.5".
  • The larger ones are 3" square.
  • They each have 7 blank tags that you can pull out and write whatever you like.

Journal on them, write a little note, make lists of why you love someone...there is no limit to what you can do to customize them. Look here to see my thoughts on filling those tags.
The larger ones you could add wallet size photos or custom cut prints.

Who doesn't have a movie that they love...one that you can recite lines from because you have seen it so many times? As a mother of 4, I can't begin to tell you how many times I have seen some of these movies in this little book...they are part of our history. They made us laugh and feel good, when we read the quotes we want to watch them again. You might think that my kids a young by this list but they are ALL teenagers. Yes, you read that correctly, all 4 are teenagers. A pretty good reason for the name of my little books...YB Crazy.
If anyone asked over the years what I was doing....I'd often reply..."trying not to be crazy".
  • Matilda (1996)
  • The Goonies (1985)
  • Toy Story (1995)
  • The Kid (2000)
  • Finding Nemo (2003)
  • The Iron Giant (1999)
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie (2008) [We were singing the song before it was a big movie]

Can you guess what the quotes are from these movies?

Robots and Tiny Button Monsters

The little Orange Button Monster wanted to hang around with the Gear Heads so of course I had to let him....
Not sure what this book's story is....It seems to me maybe it is a "get-well" "hope you feel better".....maybe it is a little strength and laughter for someone having cancer treatments.
The words on the pages say  FIX, REPAIR, MEMORY, SENSORS.
Or
maybe it is just a little book to fill with love notes for your favorite nerd or quirky friend,
I suppose it could be an ordinary book for a boy or man in your life.

This would be my "right-brained" thought process.

right-brained also right-brain
adj.
1. Having the right brain dominant.
2. Of or relating to the thought processes involved in creativity and imagination, generally associated with the right brain.
3. Of or relating to a person whose behavior is dominated by emotion, creativity, intuition, nonverbal communication, and global reasoning rather than logic and analysis.

Mrs. Belmonty has been teaching the use of your right-brain in her Enrichment program at the Elementary school.....how wonderful is that? Teaching our children to think outside the box.

What do you see in this little book?

"The road to a friend's house is never long.
                                       -Danish proverb
I am lucky, my really good friend Suzanne finds this to be true....
You see I live in that little pink house...well really it needs painting-the pink isn't too pink anymore... but that is not the point. Without her you wouldn't know anything about YB Crazy Books. She is one who brought them out into the world. She brought them to Bambi's and now she thinks we ought to bring them to you all at Wrentham Day. So look for us.....September 11th-  from 9-4.

What are Pink Moments...?

Pink Moments are times of Bliss.
Time spent with friends....drinking coffee, making cookies, decorating birthday cakes. When for, just a moment, things are good. The stars are lined up. The ducks are in a row.

A Passion for Books....

Books are a passion of mine. When I was a tiny baby my brother put a Whitman's Tiny Tales book in my crib with me and thus began my love affair with books. I have a little collection of them, most of them given to me when I was about two years old. When I was six and I learned to read....it was a glorious time. How excited I was that I could read !

Over the years I have written stories and poems, crafted mini scrapbooks in tiny pre-made 3" spiral books, sewn together pages and bound my own books over the years......the books keep coming.

A couple of months ago I felt a book coming.....it was hatching, forming, waiting to be born. It was then that I stumbled across a tutorial on making a meandering book from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper. Fascinating!

My mother, my beautiful sweet mother passed away in October after slipping away a little more each day throughout the summer. Settling her estate has been a trial and although it is close, it is still not complete. It has been an especially hard year, as you may imagine. Depression gripped me and I wished only to lay on the sofa or get in the car and drive away....it was then that I found these little books.

The pleasure in their craft soothed my soul. Here was something I could do. Something beautiful. The little beach book was born...I filled it with quotes about the beach, a place that soothes me.

And every day now I want to make books....adorn them with jewels and bits of crocheting....love them into being. It heals me.
